New Salem Mountain Bike Trail
Come to the Opening Day Event to the New Mountain Bike Trail
October 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

PETERSBURG – Mountain bikers are invited to help open central Illinois’ newest trail on Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m. at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg.

Experienced mountain bikers are invited to try this challenging, scenic and physically demanding 3.8 mile trail that was constructed during the summer by New Salem staff and summer seasonal workers. Mountain bike riders will experience steep climbs and descents along the very technical course, which will challenge the most seasoned rider. Less seasoned riders can ride the one mile loop Cardinal Ridge Trail, which can be accessed at the same trail head.

The New Salem Mountain Bike Trail was mapped using GPS and GIS to show the extreme features of this new trail!
